Ms. Conner recently retired after 30 years of working in public schools, mostly at the middle-school level. Ms. Conner holds a B.A. degree in Psychology and B.S. in Industrial Arts. Her master’s degree is in Industrial Science. Ms. Conner started her teaching career as a woodshop teacher and was honored as Bell Junior High School’s Outstanding Teacher in 1980. With the demise of that curriculum, she toggled to Social Studies and played an ever-increasing role of establishing team approaches to 7 th grade teaching and learning. At West Jefferson Junior High School, she was the nominee for Colorado Teacher of the Year for Jefferson County Schools in 1986. She was given commendation by the Jefferson County Board of Education for Cultural Diversity Activities in 1993 and initiated into Phi Delta Kappa in 1994. She served two years as Dean of Students, an interim assistant principal’s role at West Jefferson, newly designated as a middle school. Following that service, Ms. Conner returned to the classroom and focused on aligning standards-based curriculum with assessment. In 2005, her school received an excellent rating by the state of Colorado. Ms. Conner is now a faculty member in the M.Ed. teacher and administrator preparation programs at Jones International University.
