What are the admission requirements for JIU?
The admission requirements vary based on whether you seek a graduate or undergraduate degree. Click here to find out more about our admissions process.
Do I have to wait until I’m admitted before I can start taking classes?
You must be admitted before taking classes. Degree seeking students must be admitted into their program of choice before taking classes. Non-Degree students need to be admitted as an individual course-taker before they begin in a course. Your Admissions Counselor will assist you in completing your enrollment process and ensure that you have a smooth entry into your JIU courses.
I have credits from other schools that I’ve attended. Can I transfer those to JIU?
Yes, provided they were earned at an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and that the credits match JIU requirements. For details, call a JIU Admissions Counselor at 1.800.811.5663.
I’ve spent several years in my career. Can I receive credit for that?
JIU uses a portfolio process to evaluate non-academic learning. Call a JIU Admissions Counselor at 1.800.811.5663 for more information.
