SLM Financial Loan

JIU offers Career Training LoansSM, a financial assistance program with SLM Financial Corporation, an SLM Financial company.   This cost-effective program has fast approval processing and high acceptance rates.

The Career Training Loan is available to individuals who are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or permanent residents and have demonstrated credit-worthiness.   Low interest rates, flexible repayment terms, and no pre-payment penalties can save you thousands of dollars over other financing options.

You must be pending admission within a JIU degree program before the loan application can be processed.   Upon loan approval, funds will be disbursed to you in care of Jones International University.

To apply for a SLM Financial Career Training Loan, follow the instructions below:  

Note:   Please DO NOT download the loan application at the SLM Financial website. The application can be found below in Step 1.

  1. Download and complete the loan application form. Do not complete the credit card portion of the form.   If your loan is approved, the processing fee will be taken from your loan proceeds.
  2. Fax the loan application and the following support documents to +1.303.784.8530.
    1. A copy of your latest pay stub
    2. Signature identification, such as a copy of your driver’s license, social security card, or credit card.  
    3. A note containing your email address.
  3. When the above information is received, JIU will certify your loan for the amount of your tuition, and forward all documents to SLM Financial Corporation.
  4. SLM will notify JIU whether the loan is approved.   If approved, JIU will forward the student loan documents to you, including a promissory note and disclosure statement.
  5. Print the promissory note and disclosure statement as instructed, sign, and mail the original document directly to SLM.
  6. Your loan will be disbursed to you in care of JIU as soon as the promissory note has been received by SLM.
